Frankenshanken (4C System: Edition 13 Version) Melee: RV 10 Coordination: RV 10 Brawn: RV 6 Fortitude: RV 20 Intellect: RV 10 Awareness: RV 30 Willpower: RV 20 Health: 46 Fortune: 60 Lifestyle: RV 20 Repute: RV 2 Origin: While she appears to be perfectly human, though definitely not a normal example of such, Jolene Valdez is more. Outfitted with ensorcelled cybernetics by the occult terrorist organization known as ABBREVIATION, she has been forever changed by her subversive benefactors. Known Powers: (none) Cybernetics: Charge Collector: implanted under the skin of her neck, the only parts of this implant that are visible include the oversized bolts sticking out of her flesh. Inserted using some occult ABBREVIATION nonsense, this technomantic device serves two distinct functions for Jolene. Defensively, it acts to absorb electrical energy with rank value 10 ability, with the power to store up to fifty points of such before it can contain no more. Attempts to intake more will not damage the collector's capacitive ability, but such energies will affect Jolene in a normal fashion. She can use this energy in two different ways. She can use it to passively recharge her Rabbit in some way she doesn't understand, or she can discharge it through her blades, bolstering their damage by +1 RS and transforming the harm they inflict into Energy instead of mere slashing. Implant Psychosis Statistics: rank value 2. Limitations / Enhancements: Implant Psychosis: a cyborg, however minor, Jolene is subject to implant psychosis. After all, her charge collector directly channels electricity around her body! Under duress, she must pass a Willpower ACTION against her IPS or become erratic during the current encounter. In the event that such a failure comes to pass, Jolene often grows highly aggressive, and likely has at least one blade in her hand at all times. She'll have no qualms about threatening its use, or even making good on such threats, until she can cool out with one or more illicit substances. Equipment: Knives: it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Jolene possesses an entire blade store worth of knives. She loves them, and regularly switches up the two or three she always carries on her person. She can use these lethal implements to inflict Slashing damage in melee combat. Rabbit: this ABBREVIATION-standard sidearm is a blaster powered by an occult battery with unknown properties. She only carries it when 'on the job' with that subversive organization, and can fire it to inflict rank value 10 Slashing damage at anything within forty-four sectors of her location. Smartphones: Jolene carries two of these devices on her, one being for her legal clients and one being for her illegal client. The latter is secured via some sort of hocus pocus above and beyond mere biometrics, but both can transceive radio signals with rank value 4 ability (five mile range). Quirks: Bad Reputation: infamous in her community, Jolene is known as a knife-crazy scofflaw. This and her criminal record combine to give her quite the bad reputation, and those aware of her proclivities tend to react to her as if her Popularity were -2 RS in value, likely going negative. Tetrachromacy: one of several reasons her art tends to catch the eye, Jolene perceives color much differently than most ordinary people. Having four distinct color channels in her vision, she may add a +1 RS to vision-based Awareness ACTIONs related to color or in dim lighting. Skills: Artist: a young artist with a hot style slowly being lifted by various soulless corporate interests, Jolene's work features soft curves that nonetheless seem to have an edge to them. She gains ten Fortune for a week's worth of work producing her trademark commercial art. Military: though she's not a part of ABBREVIATION's rank and file, Jolene has nonetheless undergone their basic combat training, as do all of their associates. This has given her access to the Advanced Guns and Martial Arts style B skills, despite her preference for knifeplay. Salesmanship 2: while something of a trend-setting artist, Jolene's true calling has come in the selling of goods and services to others. Whether with her art or with mere words, Jolene receives a +2 RS on ACTION rolls called for when selling something - she's just that persuasive! Skill / Knives 2: Jolene has always liked sharp, pointy things, and has worked to gain proficiency with them since she was in grade school. As such, she can wield these implements, which she always has on her person, as if her Melee trait was +2 RS higher than is listed above. Contacts: A truly excellent marketer, Jolene has numerous high-profile clients that readily follow her advice. Her highest paying customer, however, is the occult terrorist organization known as ABBREVIATION, which has inducted her into its ranks so she could provide it her unique services. Costume: Jolene usually wears a black leather vest over tank tops of varying colors. She will alternate between a miniskirt and high heels and worn jeans with combat boots, depending on her mood. When working for ABBREVIATION, she changes whatever she's wearing entirely to white in hue. Personality: Jolene has no respect for authority - any authority. She's been a victim of it for most of her life, after all, and does her level best to subvert it at every opportunity. She does what she wants when she wants, and doesn't let anyone give her the business... unless they pay enough, that is. A malcontent creative with a tendency to cut others, Jolene attracted the attention of ABBREVIATION, who love her style and mindset. Though she doesn't care about their mission at all, she likes that governments around the world fear them, so she happily plies her trade in their service. Real Name: Jolene Valdez Occupation: marketer Legal Status: citizen of the United States with a minor criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: associate of ABBREVIATION Height: 5' 3" Hair: black Eyes: brown Weight: 125 lbs Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Jolene has numerous tattoos scattered across her body, most visibly in the sleeves that entirely cover her arms. She also has what looks like two large bolts sticking out of her neck. Story: One of Jolene's first formative memories is of a high-speed knife fight in some martial arts movie she watched with her dad as a child. This made quite an impression on her young mind, and as a result Jolene has been fascinated by sharp, pointy objects her entire life, for good or ill. After being bullied one day on the way home from school, she began carrying a steak knife to class, quickly ending her would-be bully's second attempt to cow her. Sold on blades ever since, Jolene began to cultivate a truly heroic collection of knives, which she retains to this day. This has of course gotten her in trouble with the law, here and there, throughout her life. While firearms are increasingly deregulated throughout her country, there are no constitutional protections for knives and knife-wielders. This has only prompted Jolene to disregard the law even more. But 'knife-crazy thug' isn't all that Jolene is about. No, she's also a prolific artist, one with a relatively unique style that she's made great use of in the past. But while she's made her fair share of graffiti, Jolene's talent has really paid off for her as a disruptive commercial artist. Quickly making her initial clients buckets of money, Jolene gained the attention of more established marketers, some of which tried to lift her style for their own efforts. Setting trends across the industry, Jolene's work ultimately caused an organization with more money than sense to hire her. This group, known only as ABBREVIATION, loved Jolene's work and wanted her unique services for their recruiting efforts. The only problem was that ABBREVIATION doesn't outsource any of its efforts, and as such they insisted that Jolene join them if she was to work for the group. Though indifferent about ABBREVIATION, Jolene had even less respect for the so-called rule of law, so she agreed to do so. Considering what ABBREVIATION was offering to pay her, Jolene didn't mind disappearing for a few months to suffer through their obscene occult boot camp. Becoming Abbreviated by surviving this experience, Jolene was inducted into their support corps. While working, she wears the corps' white instead of her usual, more colorful ensembles. And while on the clock, she also keeps her Rabbit handy, because ABBREVIATION has enemies. After bolstering ABBREVIATION's recruitment for about a year, Jolene found this out when she was busted by Bullet Sponges member G-Taur. This government outfit was formed explicitly to combat ABBREVIATION and like organizations, and they came down on Jolene hard. Avoiding prison thanks to an inspired lawyer's defense of her person, Jolene earned even more respect from her fellows in ABBREVIATION by not ratting them out in exchange for legal favors. This bolstered her position within and pay from this organization when she works for them. But even though she's secured her status as one of the Abbreviated for life, Jolene doesn't only work for that group. They are but one of her clients, some of which include major corporations and public figures that that she feels are worth her effort... or she at least doesn't find odious. Jolene has to watch herself, though. While she has avoided a life sentence for her Abbreviated work, and has even bragged publicly about being Above The Law, Jolene knows she's on the Bullet Sponges' radar. This has prompted her to craft an entirely new art style for her illicit work. But she doesn't mind. Jolene simply considers staying ahead of the government the greatest artistic challenge of her life!
